Statement from WWS

Water taxis soon for commuters along Singapore River, Marina Bay

http://www.straitstimes.com/The-Big-Story/The-Big-Story-3/Story/STIStory_747261.html

Statement from WWS:
While we compliment the authorities in introducing River taxi's to our Marina, the Waterways Watch Society would like to
remind all potential operators and present operators to take good care of our waterways at all times. Keep our waters litter
free and pollution free while enjoying and doing business in the Marina. Perhaps the authorities would consider sending all boat operators to attend a simple but yet valuable presentation session with the Waterways Watch Society to have a better understanding of our waterways and become more aware of how litter and pollution of our waters can be easily avoided with good social behaviour.

Its not all about enjoying and making a business. Its about caring, respecting and valuing our waters.

Thank you.

Seasons Greetings from WWS

Saturday, December 10, 2011

Dear Members,

It was an interesting week in Waterways. We had just completed our Camp (the 22nd. done) last week with Anchor Green primary.

On Saturday, 3rd December, we brought a group of young Dunman High Students on a whole day trip to visit Lorong Halus, Macritchie Reservoir, Jurong Lake and the City Gallery to help them in the World Water Day Amazing Race 2012 for the PUB.

Following that, on Tuesday, we played host for 50 Vietnamese Women's Union visitors at Waterways giving them a short presentation of our work, the history and challenge of our waterways in Singapore followed by a trip on the Hippo, ending with a tour of City Gallery.

Truly an eventful past 7 days and special thanks to Annie, Eddie, Fariz and all others who participated in these programs.

Well Done Waterways and Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to All!

Thank you.

Disappointing finds after an event on our reservoir

So sad, so disappointing.
Sunday boat patrol by the Waterways Watch Society picked up this litter which is very telling.
A closer look will show that it is a Urine Bag mostly likely used by water users and a few were
found floating in our Reservoir at the Marina Bay. It was coincidental that there was an International
Kayak Race over the weekend. What conclusions can we draw from this pick-up?

Waterways Watch supports enjoyment and appreciation of our waterways BUT do not support
or condone Anti-Social Behaviour!

Join us to support our work.
Thank you.

2 successful events the past week

The week just gone by and Waterways Watch had two very successful events.
We participated in the Chung Cheng Secondary event on Wednesday, 19th. Oct.
and it was an interesting and exciting time for our members to engage the students

In addition, on Saturday, we had over 70 UPS Volunteers join us doing their CSR on Boat and Bicycle Patrol, Beach Clean-Up and even Gardening. Congratulations UPS for a job well done.

Thank you.
