E-News March 2007

Hi Fellow Water Members,

Important notice: Annie over the past months has taken a more active role in helping market, admin and co’ordinate our programs. Her hard work and success can be seen with all the Events

planned this year. Well done and thank you Annie

from all of us!

Now, Some updated news:

We have many many programs right till Aug. 2007. Almost all monday and thursday afternoons are filled with a School Event. For Saturday, we have also have CIP programs with schools plus our saturday youth Bike Patrol and Teachers CIP with Chong Zheng. In addition, we now run saturday roster for members doing Bike Patrol. Do volunteer if you can by contacting Annie. For those of you who are not aware, our very regular saturday crowd is made up Penelope, Edward, Peck Khee, Tun Phong, Ved and Pat.

Sunday Patrol continues with Boat and Bike for members. Water Testing has been bit slow due to faulty PDA and software with the vendor. On 25th. Mar., we met the vendor to go through our concerns and problems. We hope to re-start this by April 07 with the water and graph monitoring. Thanks to Yap and Hui Yi together with Nurul, XJ, TK and Edwin who turned up today for this discussion with the vendor (Addest). Special thanks go to Hon Wai for leading Sunday Bike almost all sundays this year. More regular volunteers would be most appreciated.

Daniel, thank you for your sunday leadership also.

As you know this saturday we have an afternoon training planned with NPARKS. Those who can sign-up please do (address to Annie). We need to show good support and attendance as this would reflect well on WWS in this partnership as Park Watchers. As it is our intent to extend this Bike Patrol sometime in the future with smaller groups in areas like Changi Beach, East Coast Beach etc., we need to ensure this training is well attended by our members. Report to WWS at 1300hrs. please. Training will be over by 1700hr.s

Pig-Nose Exhibition has been extended (refer Annie’s earlier email). It is now up to 31st. Mar. 2007. We welcome volunteers to help in this joint partnership with UnderWater World. Contact Annie if you can.

Last sunday, we also attended the Exxon Mobil Dragon Boat Family Day at Kallang Beach. We had an open-air exhibition with a simple competition about our work. Edward, Annie and myself were present for the half-day event.

StakeHolders Project: TK, Nurul, Sharon and Edwin have kindly consented to do this. Preliminary work has already been done and we will be working out our Marketing Strategy and Schedule to visit and encourage partnership with all such Food and Entertainment Outlets along the Marina front. Those who can help, please volunteer (email to me please).

Coming-Up dont forget Camp Enviro-Awareness in the first week of Jun.04-06th. and 07th.-09th.

We need Camp Masters and Member assistance during the day and nite duty. On the nite of

06th. June, we intend to hold a small BBQ and stay overnite for all members and facilitators. This would mean that our tents will be up for the week at Kallang. Please volunteer and email to Yilinn (thank you Yilinn). We desperately need to have good member support (DAY and NIGHT) during this two camps. Thank you.

On 05th., 06th. and 09th. July, we have an exhibition booth at SMU. (0900-1700hrs.). On the 06th. July at about 1300hrs., we will do a short presentation to all the new incoming undergrads.

XJ and myself will be doing this. Yilinn did it last year.

New sponsors recently include Woh Hup (sponsor a 15 HP 4 stroke engine), UMC (for some gloves) and Tan Ban Yau (50% of a new rubber dinghy).

Last but not least, a gentle reminder. Please clean your utensils when used at WWS. Every member is reminded to help prepare our boats/ bikes before going out on patrol and to help clean them after patrol before neatly parking them. Your co’operation please.

Welcome new members- Peck Khee, Mubarak,Kellie,Claus,Tze Liang,Dicky.

Thank you.
