It was an active week for WWS, with two days of back-to-back learning trails (SPH-KRILL and Marina MRT/ Walking Trail – four trails in total) with Pathlight School (68 pax total), one mass Beach Clean-Up with Procter & Gamble (held at two different sites: Coney Island and Tanah Merah beach) ( 280 pax total), one NWCDC – Pang Sua Pond Learning Trail with West Spring Primary School (25 pax), one NWCDC – Lower Seletar Trail with Naval Base Primary School (10 pax), one Bike CSR with Salesforce (20 pax), and two Kayak CSRs with MOF (7 pax) and Aviva (40 pax) . 8 of our members also manned a booth at Punggol CCMC’s ECO Carnival 2017.
We had our usual Weekend Patrols at Marina (Bike) with 15 pax on patrol this week at Kallang including 1 new member. There were engagements with approximately 90 persons for Anti-Littering this week, and we had at least 10 engaged for illegal fishing. No fines were issued for Littering during the weekend. Litter Hotspots were found below Sheares Bridge areas near PAWV Kallang (some evidence of substance abuse found) and MBS. There was no Punggol Patrol this weekend.
More than 60% of the litter picked up/ observed during our patrols/ programmes over the week continue to consist of plastic waste.
