Weekly Report 17 September 2018

Dear Friends of Waterways,

For this week, we were full with back to back programs for WWS. We had conducted two MPA talks, one for 38 students from Montfort Junior School and the other for 140 students from Fuhua Primary School. We had one WWE Lah Lah programme sponsored by Pratt and Whitney for 30 pax and a school booth with Admiralty Primary School which had received good response from the students. In addition, we had one Kayak clean-up for 21 pax from Yuying Secondary School, a dry run with P&W for their Try-Amazing Race, a Corporate Kayak for P&W for 20 pax with 4 volunteers from Green Boulevard joining in, and a very successful beach clean-up with Credit Suisse for 60 pax at East Coast. The total litter collected for the week was 493.86 KG and most of them were of plastic origin (60%). We have one L.O.V.E. bike programme for Punggol and one Corporate talk for ANZ that will be postponed to the following week.

A total of more than 22 members turn up for weekend duty (Kallang) and one weekday patrol duty (Punggol). 5 new members had their orientation postponed to next week due to F1 but we will be having a Japanese intern who will be joining us for two weeks starting on Sunday. For this week, we did 5 Safety Boat duties.

During this week’s weekend patrol, our patrol members on Saturday highlighted that there were litter debris spotted in the waters.

During our Sunday patrol, our members highlighted that the waters at Kallang are rather clean.

During the weekend patrol, we had 74 anti-littering engagements and 12 fishing engagements.
