Weekly Report 04 July 2019

Dear Members,

Another week, still during the School Holidays. But we still managed to deliver a number of programs this week:

Two successful corporate booth for ANZ and RBC in their respective office; three Kayak Waterway Clean-Up programs for NVPC (40 pax), students from Ngee Ann Poly (25 pax) and teachers from Pasir Ris Pri (18 pax); two OBS Camp and Kayak Clean-Up for 82 students in total; and a River Monster Junior for E-Bridge Pre-school (37 pax). In addition, we had a recce done by MayBank for a CSR  next month about Kayak Waterway Clean-Up.

In addition, WWS attended two conferences: one with RHT RMF at Sentosa and another with AstraZeneca launch with Singapore Cancer Society.  It was quite active with adults during this last week of school holidays. Not bad an achievement by our great team.

During weekdays, 7 members of Punggol Team did two patrols. As for the weekend, we had a total of 46 members (including 7 new members) turned up for duty at Marina, but only one member did admin duty at Punggol branch. Garden crew turned out in full strength on Sunday. Jurong branch held their first meeting at site with 14 members present. They conducted a Bike Recce after the meeting. Hopefully, Jurong branch will be fully operational by 01st August 2019.

A total of 150 engagement on anti-littering during weekend patrol. Throughout the whole week, there were five fishing sighted, involving 8 individual, all complied when engaged. Those by boat patrol mostly leave once sighting our boat patrol.

Total litter picked-up for the week was 96kg.

Litter still seen at Punggol Waterways and Marina (see photos). Our members also sighted a damaged signboard and a pipe left on the ground (see photos).

Otters were sighted by boat patrol up Singapore River.

Waterways is also concerned with the very regular disregard on parking along kampong bugis road next to the continuous white line. Every weekend, many cars parked there even when there is a public parking area available further inside. (see photo).
