Partnerships

Dear Friend of the Marina,

WaterWays Watch Society (WWS) is a volunteer society, formed since 1997. As an NGO, our society has been working very closely with government agencies like PUB, NEA and most recently NParks in the engagement and education of people on the need to keep our waterways clean and litter free. With the Marina Reservoir located right in the very heart of our business district and amongst many existing and new entertainment and eating outlets, the challenge to have sustainable clean waterways becomes even more essential to our business and survival.

Our mission as a volunteer organisation is to implement on-going action plans with a strong focus on education and awareness on the need for a clean environment. Our activities include presentations/talks to the general public, schools, corporates, community groups, Camp enviro-awareness and also participation in events like Clean and Green Week, International Coastal Clean-Up, World Water Monitoring Day and World Environment Day. In addition, our volunteer members, now over 115 strong and all passionate and dedicated, perform regular weekend Boat and Bicycle Patrols along the Marina Reservoir.

Achievements by our group have earned us endorsement from PUB and NEA as key partners and today we are also part of NParks Park Watchers programme Our society was also recently mentioned in Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's National Day Rally and in November this year, given the President's Environmental Award 2006.

We trust you can now recognise and appreciate our work and its positive benefit to your business. As a stake holder, you must realise the importance of having a clean and healthy environment, especially with all the future plans for the Marina Reservoir - Intergrated Resort, Ferris Wheel, Botanic Gardens in the City, Condominiums, Boutique Hotels, Marina Barrage Centre, etc. As a strong advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility, we are reaching out to organisations like yourself to help us in our fight against litter and pollution of our waterways and be a joint guardian of our country's water resources. We therefore appeal to you to consider being a part of this effort by :

  • 1. Displaying our posters/pamplets at strategic location in your premises
  • 2. Encouraging your staff to join us as volunteers or attend one of our on-going programmes.
  • 3. Reporting promptly any source of littering/pollution to the appropriate authorities or WWS.
  • 4. Registering and being among the subscribers to our Friends of the Marina Association (S$120 per annum)
  • 5. Helping WWS defray its operational costs by sponsoring, in-kind or financially

We hope to be given the opportunity to meet with your team soon so that we can explain things in more detail and explore further any areas for potential partnership. You can contact us at the following numbers and address:
