Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

“Shame Shame”

Absolutely disgraceful and profoundly disappointing! Over the weekend, just before the Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year), our pedal boat in Kallang and our bike patrol in Jurong/Lakeside were confronted with litter that was simply BEYOND BELIEF. Shame on you, Singapore.

One cannot help but wonder what awaits us on the upcoming Chinese New Year Weekend! Are we still so immune and ignorant of the severe problem persisting all around Singapore? Is there a collective blindness to the fact that such sightings directly reflect the character of our citizens?

Are we oblivious to the potential impact on cleanliness, the spread of diseases, and the looming threat of epidemics, such as dengue, that continue to plague Singapore? It is high time we reconsider our current and past approaches to tackling these issues, as it is evident that our efforts have yielded no significant results.

We need individuals in positions of authority who not only can but also will bring about positive change. It is time to put an end to the ineffective and costly practices of producing poster prints, broadcasting television reminders, and delivering public speeches. History has shown us that they do not work, and they never will.

Kong Hee Fatt Choy! Let us all work together and not shame the Dragon!

  2. This week a total of 72 members were involved in CSR/VIA programs, talk, patrols, administration, housekeeping duties, and training.
  3. The total trash collected by the patrol groups was 159 kg.
  • Boat Patrol. 3 boat patrols were carried out; 2 at Marina and 1 at Punggol.

Once again, we sincerely thank all members and volunteers, who came for patrol or for facilitating the CSR/VIA programs, for your time and dedication to the task. Without your support we would not have been able to achieve this. Young and old, we all must care for our environment. Sustainability is the only way forward.
