New year, renewed efforts.
Dear Friends,
Waterways Watch Society wishes everyone a Happy New Year! Members enjoyed a memorable New Year’s Eve gathering with food, drinks and great company at Kallang this year! Those present had a bird’s eye view and experience of the fireworks show just in front of our office premises. We hope to better organise a bigger one the next opportunity to include more of our members. Members patrol continued as usual, with 71 members present for this holiday weekend- an encouraging sign to show how dedicated our members are. Additionally, 4 students from Hwa Chong Institute joined in for the members’ patrol at Jurong Lakeside Garden as part of their school project. While we ended the year will no CSR or VIA (we closed all programmes for this period), we hope the new year 2026 will begin to step-up with renewed activities with schools and corporates.

New Year’s Eve gathering at our Kallang office to welcome 2026 together! Thank you to all the members who contributed food and drinks for the gathering!

Another fun activity we had was our pickleball introductory clinic on 21st December. Members once again left positive feedback for the session, with many saying that it was useful that the our volunteer coach went through all the rules, techniques and mechanics of the game patiently. The session also allowed members to bond with each other in another way besides patrols. The following is a statement by a member who joined the pickleball session, “Pick a litter in the morning and Pickleball in the afternoon.” We hope to carry on offering this activity if members’ interest continue. Thank you Vincent for organising this. Next year, we will also be re-introducing Yin and Yang Yoga on a Sunday morning. Please look out for more details to be released soon by Marta.
