A Good Week! And, We mean it!

Dear Friends,

We had the Good Friday long weekend the past week, but it did not stop Waterways Watch Society from doing what we are passionate about. It was not only a Good Friday, but a good week overall – with 280 participants, 64 volunteers and 414kg collected for our CSR programmes! We also had a respectful team of members (52 pax) patrolling despite the weather being somewhat wet. We also had over 20 members conduct and participate in a kayak safety refresher training on all 3 days! Bravo!

Feedback has been great as well, with many first-time volunteers and participants seeing for themselves the actual situation of our reservoirs; sights they do not see simply running along the park connectors; yet therein lies the problem: most people cannot see the problem until it is too late, and it is part of Waterways Watch mission to raise awareness and educate as many people as possible for our future and our childrens’ future!

We also see improvements regarding errant park behaviours all around, such as reduced illegal fishing and smoking, although they are still present; but we acknowledge and celebrate whatever win we can get this week. Cheers!
