Kayaks ahoy!
Dear Friends,
It was an exciting week for our members, this week was one of the few opportunities where we had kayak patrols for all 3 locations so close to one another – Kallang last week, Punggol and Lakeside this week! We also had an excellent turnout for each session. Kudos to all the patrol leaders who took time out of their schedules to lead the expeditions, and to all other members for coming down to help!
We also had a fruitful week for CSR, with a back-to-back 12 sessions of CSR! This week, just for CSR alone, we picked up 635kg of trash, across 300+ participants! Not the cleanest result, but this is definitely an impact we are making towards our waterways.
Our orientation also saw 19 new members joining us that day for an eye-opening moment. We also want to welcome back some members who were away for a period of time! With all this help, it also means we can cover larger areas and pick up more trash. You can definitely see the efforts and impact in keeping our waterways clean.
There are, however, concerns with persistent flouting of our Fishing Zone guidelines – very often (almost daily) faced with teenagers disregarding the Fishing Zone signs. Many often don’t react even when engaged. Unauthorised PMDs in Kallang riverside park (designated as Footpath by LTA), often seen speeding and with pillion passengers. A disturbing trend.
Summary of activities conducted over this week:
- CSR & VIA
