Singapore’s 60th birthday!

Dear Friends,

Happy 60th Birthday Singapore! We definitely have grown as a nation from how we started as a fishing village, to a trade hub, and now a bustling metropolis attracting visitors all over the world to this little tiny red dot.

Over the years, cleanliness has shown some improvement as we become more and more conscious of the environment. We also see an increase in corporates and individuals looking for opportunities to contribute. But there is also more that we can do. As we grow as a nation, we continue to see trends that do not really look too good, such as increasing water usage per person, or lower domestic recycling rates and increased littering. One other thing we often observe is the sudden increase in litter after a festive event. WWS will be keeping watch and hopefully, we will be proven wrong from this year.

Singapore has done so much and so well in other areas, so let’s do our best together to come up on top in environmentalism and sustainability too! A clean and safe city also means a good economic environment.
