AGM, rain & family fun!

Dear Friends,

It is our AGM this week! We had a good year despite all the ‘rubbish’ we’ve been seeing and picking-up. More and more corporates are now starting to come to us, compared to schools as was previously. It goes to show that corporates are now taking a stand and interest in our environment and we are very pleased to see that change. It’s now all about talking ESG and hopefully our humble but meaningful values-in- action clean-up activities will add a lasting impression on some if not all of the participants.

It has been a rainy week but that hasn’t stopped our programmes and patrols from continuing. We toned down a little on the CSR to prepare for our AGM, yet even our large CSR groups decided to brave rain or shine to protect our environment and waterways. Our dedicated members also joined Sunday patrols (Kayak, Boat, Pedal Boat, Bicycle and Gardening), and many stayed to join our AGM later in the afternoon too!

It is also the start of the school holidays, so many corporate parents also brought their children down to help on Friday CSR (Teachers’ Day), and we also had our member parents accompanying their children for patrols and AGM. It is definitely a sight to see young people interested in environmentalism. Sadly, we are also seeing an increase in young anglers fishing in non-designated spots, and as if that is not bad enough, they even enter the reservoirs waist-deep without a PFD (see pictures below). When engaged almost all are defiant and happy for papa to pay the FINE.  What type of society are we building for Our Future!! Guess with Vaping now a national problem, Illegal Fishing today is inconsequential……..or is it!!
