F1 or F9?

Dear Friends,

It’s the F1 weekend and we hoped everyone enjoyed the event. Our members who share the same interests got together to have a chill celebratory evening with some BBQ and drinks. It’s very heartwarming to see our members bonding together outside of our patrol hours and we are glad that WWS is a society that can foster such friendships.

Over our duties though, sadly we have to score Singapore a big fat F9 for our environmentalism. Another record breaking week with our CSR programmes hitting 506kg with only 8 sessions. We had 3 of these exceeding 100kg per session! Even our facilitators were shocked that they had to open multiple trash bags to keep up! Additionally, our patrols also saw another record – many dead fish in Marina Reservoir and also some in Punggol.

We are not a backwater country nor unable to mind our trash, so why is all of this littering and pollution happening? Many participants from our programme have to sadly admit we do have a pollution problem, despite proclaiming the waterways as clean, before they arrived and saw for themselves the actual state of our waterways. Wish our government will do more to address this issue quickly.
