Why can’t we have nice things?

Dear Friends,
It is another wet week at Waterways Watch Society. We were actually fortunate enough that most of our programmes and patrols were able to go ahead with quite a good turnout. Even the students had an enjoyable learning experience with us.
We also freshened up the wall near our biodiversity pond with a simple slogan and design, mostly done by our passionate volunteers: Luke, Alvin, and Yegen! They have been with us for a long time and we want to take this opportunity to thank them here!
This coming holiday season also means a season of feasting, and we too at WWS also ensure our volunteers do not go hungry when they come for patrols or facilitation. But having said that, let’s all do our part and keep our environment clean. Barely a month into opening and we are already seeing all the plastics and disposables outside this shop at Jurong Lakeside Gardens! These are the acts that will always remind me of this famous line “This is why Singaporeans cannot have nice things.”
