Why do we need others to clean up after us?

Dear Friends,

It is yet another week at WWS and unfortunately, an oil spill occurred in the middle of the week and travelled downstream to Kallang river. The cleaners have been working extremely hard throughout the week to clean up the oil spill and we would like to thank them for their efforts. A member of the public called in to report the spill and we activated PUB and NEA. We like to thank the person who carried out this civic duty. This reminds us once again of how easy it is for accidents like that to occur and affect the environment around us. It is important for the responsible parties to be held accountable for their actions and negligence, as well as to be more aware of its impact on others when such situations occur.

This weekend brought several highlights: members enjoyed a successful Pickleball Appreciation Course, led by a fellow volunteer, and we welcomed a strong turnout at the new members’ orientation. However, the number of patrol members have decreased as many have begun their overseas holiday travels.

Summary of activities conducted over this week:

  1. CSR
    • 4 CSR programmes – Hermès Singapore Retail, PropertyGuru, ISC Project c/o Empact, Adani
    • 1 VIA programme – Dover Court International School
    • Total assisting volunteers – 79
    • Total rubbish collected – 151kg
  2. Member Patrols
    • 3 Boat patrol – 2 Marina, 1 Punggol
    • 2 Bike patrol – 2 Marina
    • 1 Pedal Boat – 1 Marina
    • 2 Gardening – 2 Marina
    • Total assisting volunteers – 58
    • Total rubbish collected – 35kg

We are excited to introduce a pickle ball appreciation course for members organized by WWS. The post-game feedback from our members was encouraging as well.

“Thank you, Vincent – really appreciate this new WWS initiative. Doing drills is super useful for building a good pickleball “foundation”.  Vincent’s targeted feedback was especially helpful. Count me in for future sessions!”
