Trusting our young leadership – an amazing VIA, through our River monster programme.
Dear Friends,
Waterways Watch Society observed less CSR or VIA programmes as the majority resumed their works and school activities. Bookings have been very slow for the start of the year and we are hoping that this will change as we settle into Jan. 2026. However, our members’ patrol remains highly committed, with 67 members present for the beginning of the new year. This shows how dedicated our members are. The four students from Hwa Chong Institute who joined in for the members’ patrol at Jurong Lakeside Garden the previous week carried out a River Monster programme this weekend as part of their school project. This VIA was a special one as the four students carried out the presentation and facilitated a group of 19 junior college students, managing the entire programme with guidance from our facilitators.
Waterways Watch Society would also like to highlight the many observations and engagements done with members of the public (young and old) on the need to comply with our rules. Rules like No Fishing, No Littering, No Smoking, No Cycling, No PMDs and PABs. The disregard of such rules by still many Singaporeans and Foreigners is of real concern. What type of society are we encouraging when our citizens simply cannot or do not want to comply with rules and guidelines?? What is the future of Our Singapore??
