Selamat Hari Raya Haji and Happy Vesak Day!

Dear Friends,

Waterways Watch Society would like to wish everyone celebrating a Selamat Hari Raya Haji and Happy Vesak Day! With the midweek holiday, we took the opportunity to organize an 8km kayak patrol and we were glad to see many members turning up, with a  total of 28 pax. While they were not able to cover the whole planned route due to construction works at the halfway mark, our members collected 64kg of litter during this patrol alone. WWS is thankful for the team that helped to organize this patrol, the safety boat team and our members for their hard work. Additionally, at Lakeside, eight of our members also helped to shift our pontoon further away from shore on Vesak Day and we would like to thank them for coming down on a public holiday.

We were glad to have Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary and Huamin Primary School with us again this year and are thankful for the many thank you cards that their Huamin students have written to our facilitators.

An area of concern – sightings of illegal fishing by youth at the start of school holidays.
