Still – Litter, Litter, everywhere!!!
Dear Friends,
This week saw an increase in programmes, with two of it being our River Monster Junior programme for preschools and one assembly talk. We also saw an increase in total weight of trash collected from both our programmes and patrols, from 231kg to 248kg. The Pangsua team collected the highest record of trash during today’s patrol, with 20kg of trash. Most of the weight came from the many glass bottles that the team found littered under the Bukit Panjang flyover and they had to go through three rounds of trash disposal because it was either too heavy or had too many ants crawling around. This is truly disappointing news as it seems that we are moving backwards as a country rather than forwards. More needs to be done to teach the people about social responsibility, especially for the Pangsua area which is always collecting huge amounts of trash!
Waterways Watch Society also had its Annual General Meeting (AGM) this Sunday. This round of AGM included elections for the new committee members and we ended with a casual award ceremony in appreciation of the members who have volunteered the most hours and those who supported WWS in our CSR/VIA programs for the past year.
