Dear Friends,
With the haze coming in, WWS has been monitoring closely on the PSI levels to ensure that we are able to continue running our programmes and patrols. Thankfully, the PSI levels at Marina have been moderate and there have been no cancellations due to high PSI. Safety to our clients and members always comes first.
Overall volunteer engagement remained strong across all locations and a whooping total of 447kg of litter was collected. While we may have a great sense of achievement, this is definitely a cause for concern as the weight of trash was close to double the previous week. It makes us question why people continue to litter despite the education sharing and laws against littering.
It seems like Singapore has its own contributors to the recent decline in air quality as an alarming number of illegal smokers (mainly adults) were also spotted and engaged this weekend at Marina. All complied when engaged. A number of illegal fishing were also spotted and engaged with, only two individuals did not comply (teenagers).
