So much trash!!
Dear Friends,
Programmes and patrols are starting to pick up and it’s been a busy week at WWS! Perhaps the weather may have played a part in bringing the litter over, but a whopping total of 484kg was collected at Marina reservoir this week from CSR programmes alone!! It is really frightening how even with cleaners and cleaning boats going around everyday, at least 10 hours each day, there is still so much litter to be collected! It would be great if there could be more ways to impact those in the heartlands and park users on the impact of their trash and how it affects the environment. Our Pang Sua force is trying to do just that and we wish more residents would join us there. Hopefully with the coming introduction of 10 cents for every recyclable can/bottle (Right Return Campaign) there may be much less litter to collect in the future. Hopefully!
This week, WWS organized a get-together for our regular facilitators and patrol leaders to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It was a really heartening gathering and a good time of bonding for us. Additionally, member volunteers this week at Punggol, Lakeside and Marina got to enjoy a plate of yusheng after patrol duty! Thank you to our members for your support as always.
