Dear friends,

As Chinese New Year is approaching, this week we had a total of 5 programmes, 3 of which were assembly talks with Regent Secondary (2) and Anderson Secondary School and 1 Kayak Clean up session with students from Maris Stella High School. We also had  a camp session with OBS camp this week. Because of the festive season, WWS did a total of 10 Safety Boat duties. This week, we collected a total of 41 KG of litter, of which over 60% were of plastic origins.

This week, we had patrol sessions for 37 members in both Marina and Punggol. In Marina this week, we had a pedal boat patrol session and a boat and a bicycle session in Marina. There was also a boat patrol in Punggol. There were no fishing engagements made this week. Weekend engagement had 18 anti-littering engagements made this week in Marina.

During our patrols, our members sighted a decoration outside Marina Shopping Mall that were made of reused materials. We were glad that more efforts are being made to create more awareness for the public to understand the issue of waste.

During one of our Kayak Clean up programme on Saturday, our members picked up a rubbish bin from the waters.

There were many plastic snack wrappers that were picked up in the waters of Marina. Our boat patrol members reported that many plastic bottles, cans and boxes were sighted in the waters as well.
