Teaching the young to do good.

Dear Friends,

This week saw an increase in engagement with schools and hopefully this trend continues for the rest of 2026. We had a total of two programmes with preschools and one with a primary school and a total of four assembly talks with two different schools. We hope that by teaching the young on the importance of water and social responsibility, they will be able to grow up with this sense of responsibility and love for our environment.

A shocking amount of litter was collected this week. The rain over the week brought down a lot of litter to our reservoir and several areas of our Kallang Riverside Park shoreline were also filled with litter. Notably, the Fishing Zone area at Kampong Bugis appears to have lots of
leftover litter from fishermen, which is quite obvious from the items picked up. We also engaged tourists smoking, illegal tenting and tried engaging a member of the public feeding pigeons (see photos under NEA).

While weekend patrols at all our three locations still engage smokers and illegal fishers on a regular basis, we also see PMDs and PABs in the Kallang Riverside Park and Kampong Bugis often and speeding. We strongly suggest the authorities in charge of these areas (NParks or LTA?) conduct some operations to engage such offenders as the park is often used by elderly and senior citizens, families and joggers and cyclists.

This week, we also bid farewell to two of our very supportive and dedicated members, Marta and Nino, who unfortunately are not able to extend their stay in Singapore and have to leave for Poland (Marta’s home town). We will surely miss their presence, Marta’s cake, and their passionate support in our work. Good luck to the both of you and hope that you will still come visit us whenever possible.

We also finally collected some of our NEA Authority Cards that expired 31st Dec. 2025 from NEA. The balance of those expired in December 2025 is still pending. We have also replied to NEA on those card holders expiring in June 2026 which we like to be renewed.
