A week of equipping!
Dear Friends,
This week, our members attended a two-day first aid course conducted in-house at WWS premises. This is the first run of first aid courses planned for the year and there will be two more sessions later in the year. Committee members of WWS also helped out to decorate our offices and pontoons at Lakeside, Punggol, and Kallang with Singapore banners and flags in preparation for National Day.
The June school holidays meant that there were close to no VIA programmes being conducted this month. However, with the holidays ending this week, we hope that VIA programmes will start to pick up in numbers again. Unfortunately, oil spills were again sighted on two separate days in Kallang, 23 and 27 June at separate locations. While we have reported this to PUB, we believe stricter regulations should be enforced to minimize the occurrences of oil spills.
We continue to see PMDs and PABs in Kallang Riverside Park and Kampong Bugis, often speeding and without a number plate or with strange numbers displayed. Do note that we have written to LTA asking about authorized number plate sequences issued to such electric bicycles.
WWS would also like to welcome 11 new members who joined our new members orientation on Sunday and we are looking forward to their contributions to WWS and the environment. A total of five CSR were done this week. One CSR did not go out and the clean-up program was postponed due to the weather.
