Wake up, Singapore!

Dear Friends,

September has ended and it’s time to wake up (for those of you who are familiar with the song by Green Day). Because it is very disheartening to see that much trash around the neighbourhood can be easily disposed of in the right places. We are not looking at large , bulky refuse where it is difficult to carry around; but small cans, bottles, plastic bottles, plastic bags, foam cups n plates, even cigarette butts. Is it too hard to really find a bin in Singapore?

Our 9 CSR programmes already easily collected over 400kg of trash, that’s almost 50kg per session in about 1.5 hours! How on earth is that happening? Even our patrols this week are also hitting a record of 80kg collected. Have you seen the number of trash bags from our Punggol Kayak patrol?

Fortunately, we are seeing more and more people waking up and attending our orientation sessions, to the point we were even full for September’s intake! Our mission is not only to clean up, but to spread awareness that our environment is where we live, and the water is where we drink from. Let’s not be asleep and think that someone will clean it up for us.
