Let’s appreciate what we have!
Dear Friends,
This week was an eventful week for Waterways Watch Society. We are glad to report that our Pang Sua team collected significantly fewer cans and bottles than usual, and we hope that this is an indication that the Recycle Right programme is working. However, it is also disheartening to see huge amounts of litter left behind after events held at the open space right outside Bukit Panjang MRT, which was the case this weekend. Our members sighted a lot of litter near the canal after a shingles public awareness event meant for the elderly, which we hope was not related to the event.
Over the weekend, the patrol team at Kallang celebrated the birthday of our regular pedal boat leader. We are thankful to her for her generosity in buying lunch for the patrol members present on Saturday and we wish her good happiness and health. Members also conducted a kayak patrol, with the safety boat members practicing various kayak rescue methods. It was a fruitful and insightful experience and we thank all kayak leaders, safety boaters and members for making this possible. A total of 40 members were involved.
We also like to thank Bedok Police Division for their kind consideration and support in supporting our requirements for access to the waters for our clean-up programs and members weekend patrols at our Kallang/Marina office from Sunday 9:00am to Saturday 2:00pm.
