We don’t want a nation full of trash!

Dear Friends,

This Sunday marks the birthday of our country! As it National Day fell on a Sunday, a number of our Sunday patrol leaders came down to join the Saturday patrol at Marina. It was heartening to see the members interacting with one another and doing their part to keep Singapore clean and tidy. We had 30 members present on the eve of National Day. Corporate programs continued pre-National Day and there was no school VIA done. This week also saw us setting up a booth at one of our corporate  clients – S&P Global during their lunch-time engagement with WWS.

A significant amount of trash was collected this week, totalling up to 269kg at Kallang and 17kg at Punggol. This is quite shocking considering that there hasn’t been much rain to wash trash down towards Marina reservoir, indicating that this huge amount of trash most likely came from the vicinity upstream. Not to mention, we had fewer patrols than usual as well.

A number of concerned sightings have been noted this week as well, such as fallen trees and signs, as well as bicycles not parked properly. Only one case of illegal fishing was spotted this week, perhaps due to an increase in security and barricades around Kallang Riverside Park in preparation for National Day. What would a post National Day experience look like?
Notice for our 2026 AGM scheduled for 30th August, 1400hrs was sent out this week.
