Dear Friends,
We had an amazing week in WWS although we only managed to do three school programs and three Corporate programmes in total. There were two MPA Talks for 17 pax from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and another 200 pax from National Junior College. We had one Coney Island for Ngee Ann Polytechnic for 25 pax. We had corporate programs with Beam Global Asia for 25 pax doing Kayak, Pedal boat and Bike Clean-up programmes, one with Royal Bank of Canada for 40 pax on pedal boat, boat, bike and foot and a talk for CLC at Punggol for 50 pax. During the week, we managed to collect a total of 142.2KG. of which more than 60% of plastic origin.
This week, we received our new Dynaglass boat which will be replacing the Whaly at Punggol and we saw the opening of our Co-Study Container for our Members for free, including weekend patrols.
During this weekend, our Japanese intern Shoma returned to Japan after a very meaningful two weeks’ stay with us. Thank you Shoma for joining us.
A total of 37 members did patrol duty this week at both Kallang and Punggol. Training was conducted for two new drivers at Kallang on Sunday.
During member patrol this week, our members did a total of 28 anti-littering engagement with members of the public. All of them complied. A total of 14 number of fishing engagements were also conducted at Kallang and Punggol Waterways Point.
We still sight algae around our pontoon area and cleaners helped clear them. Sunday patrol sighted lots of litter around F1. On the housekeeping side, we continue to prepare the new boat and the old boat for appropriate use. Some pontoon enhancements,.re-alignment and cleaning done.
We note new ABC at Serangoon just opened and already visited by Fishermen. There is no ‘No Fishing’ sign present.
