Dear Friends of WWS,

It was a Rich Crazy Waterways week for us. We conducted a total of six MPA talks for Zhonghua Primary School (50 pax), East Coast Primary School (26 pax), St. Hilda’s Primary School (35 pax), Angsana Primary School (21 pax), Townsville Primary School (70 pax)  and Changkat Primary School (38 pax). We had a housekeeping activity for Damai Secondary School students (20 pax) and a kayak programme for NUS OHS for 36 pax. Also, we had three corporate programs with ANZ for 40 pax for beach clean-up, a Kayak and Bike programme with Moody’s Analytics for 50 pax and a kayak programme for NVPC (VEP) for 28 pax. On Sunday, we had our first OCBC L.O.V.E. programme at Punggol for 10 pax. This week, we collected a total of 378.16KG of litter, where 60% of them were of plastic origin.

During this week, our CEO, Mr Eugene Heng, met a Swiss Radio News Reporter for an interview on our work here at WWS.

We had also received recycle furnitures for our Container Co-Study workplace and some clean-up work had been done on our pontoon and Container.

Over the week, a total of 45 members did their patrol duty this weekend which included two Night Mooncake Bike Patrol at Punggol Waterways and two weekday punggol boat patrols.

We continue to engage those fishing outside authorised zones during patrols this week. A total of 5 fishing engagements had been made at Kallang Bridge area during boat patrol and a total of 84 engagements were made on anti-littering. In addition, weekend patrol sighted a disgusting bed divan left on our Marina shoreline right opposite Costa Rhu. It is very sad to encounter such “litter” and shows that there are still people with very bad social behaviour.  The bed was stained with what we think red paint and not blood.

One staff from the Fullerton Hotel was seen throwing his cigarette butt onto the floor. He complied when engaged. Our CEO has written to Fullerton Management to remind them to remind their staff as this is not the first time engaging their hotel staff. They have replied to comply and will remind their staff.

We also made a purchase of a new boat to replace one of our Punggol Boats.

This will be done over the next month as delivery would be later.
